Civcon’s Sponsorship of Tadcaster Football Club

Grassroots football in England runs on tight margins. Clubs at the community level — the ones providing football to local kids and adults who’ll never go near a professional academy — rely almost entirely on memberships, gate receipts, and whatever sponsorship they can piece together locally. When those income streams fall short, it’s usually the training equipment, the kit, or the facilities that suffer first.

Civcon has sponsored Tadcaster Football Club since August 2022. The sponsorship covers financial support for training and equipment, our branding on the club’s training kits, and signage at their home ground. It’s a straightforward arrangement — the club gets reliable support, and we stay visible in a community where we work.

Why grassroots sponsorship matters

Sport England has been clear for years that grassroots sport depends on local business support to function at the level communities actually need. The FA’s Grassroots Football figures consistently show that participation drops when clubs can’t afford to keep facilities and kit up to standard. That’s particularly acute for youth football, where access is often determined entirely by whether the local club can keep its lights on.

Tadcaster is a market town in North Yorkshire with the kind of tight-knit community where the football club matters. It’s a focal point for young people, a social outlet for adults, and a piece of local identity that’s worth preserving. Sponsoring it isn’t complicated — it just requires businesses operating in the area to decide it’s worth the commitment.

Three years in

We’ve been involved since 2022 and plan to continue. If you’re a local business in the Tadcaster or wider Selby district area looking to support the club, their contact details are on the Tadcaster Albion website.
