About Civcon Civil Engineering

Built from the ground up. Literally.

Founded in 2018 with no external funding and a straightforward plan — take on civil engineering work, do it properly, and build from there. Seven years on, the team delivers multi-million-pound schemes across the North of England.

  • The Team

People who know the work, not just the paperwork.

The management team stays closely involved in how projects run day to day. When something unexpected comes up — uncharted utilities, rock at depth under live traffic, late-stage design queries — the people making decisions are on site or reachable. The workforce has been built deliberately over seven years, with an emphasis on maintaining standards as the company has grown. Health, safety, quality, and environmental performance have stayed consistent throughout.

The Team

The People Behind the Projects

Every project we deliver is only as strong as the people driving it. Our team brings together decades of hands-on industry experience, sharp commercial thinking, and a genuine passion for getting things right — from the ground up to the boardroom.

  • Damien Brennan

    Managing Director

Damien hasn't just worked in the construction industry — he's lived every layer of it. Starting out as a groundworker with nothing but graft and ambition, he worked his way through the ranks; project manager, contracts manager, and eventually owner of multiple companies. There isn't a role on site he hasn't held, and that's exactly what makes him the operator he is today. "I've done the early starts, the muddy boots, the late nights on-site. That background doesn't leave you — and it shouldn't. It's what keeps you honest." Damien leads with the kind of authority that only comes from having earned it the hard way. He understands the business from the ground up — literally — and that perspective shapes every decision he makes at director level. His teams respect him not because of the title, but because he's been where they are. Sharp, driven, and allergic to cutting corners, Damien brings a rare combination of hands-on experience and commercial acumen that few in the industry can match. He built his success one project at a time — and he's not done yet.

  • David Grayshon

    Managing Director

David Grayshon — Managing Director David Grayshon has a rare gift — he can walk into a room and walk out with the contract. Whether it's the blue eyes, the easy confidence, or simply the kind of presence that commands attention without demanding it, clients trust him before he's said much at all. Fortunately for everyone involved, the substance more than matches the style. "I never planned to end up here — I just never stopped moving forward. One job led to another, and eventually the jobs became businesses." David started where most don't — hands in the ground, laying driveways, pulling cable, learning the trade from the dirt up. From groundworks to driveways, from electrical work to running his own operations, he built his career the old-fashioned way: by being good at things, and then getting better. That journey from tradesman to entrepreneur hasn't made him complacent — if anything, it's made him hungrier. He knows what hard work looks like because he's still doing it, just in a different pair of shoes.

  • Adam McCormick

    Operations Director

Adam manages contracts the way they should be managed — with authority, precision, and the kind of experience that only comes from sitting across the table from councils and knowing exactly what works. As a main contractor with Colas, he's handled complex infrastructure schemes for Leeds City Council, Barnsley, Kirklees, Bradford, and others — the kind of high-value work that demands someone who speaks both languages: commercial and compliance. "A contract is only as good as the person managing it. You need to understand what you've signed up to, what the client needs, and how to deliver both without compromise." Adam doesn't just administer contracts — he orchestrates them. He knows the political landscape of council procurement, understands the pressure points, and has the credibility to keep projects on track when things get complicated. Whether it's managing scope, handling disputes, or keeping multiple stakeholders aligned, he brings the kind of steady authority that teams trust and clients respect. He's been the main contractor in the room — and it shows.

  • Luke Jarvis

    Financial Manager

Luke doesn't just manage finances — he orchestrates them. Every figure has its place, every process has its purpose, and every spreadsheet is exactly one misaligned cell away from keeping him up at night. Fortunately for the business, that level of precision is exactly what good financial management demands. "If there's a right way to do something, there's a process for it. If there isn't a process yet — there will be." Luke is the kind of person who colour-codes for fun and finds genuine satisfaction in the moment two columns finally balance. His methodical approach means nothing slips through the net, no figure goes unquestioned, and no workflow stays inefficient for long. Where others see admin, Luke sees a system waiting to be perfected. It's not just how he works — it's how he's wired. And for a business that takes financial accuracy seriously, that's not a quirk. That's an asset.

  • Raphael Obiagwu

    Commercial Manager

Raphael brings decades of commercial management expertise built across some of the UK's biggest construction names — Galliford Try, Kier, and BAM. An MBA-qualified Commercial Manager and ACIArb, he knows how to navigate complex contracts, manage risk, and keep projects commercially sharp from day one through final account. "Commercial management is about seeing around corners — understanding the contract, protecting the business, and solving problems before they become disputes." Working on schemes worth tens of millions, Raphael has steered NEC contracts, managed claims and compensation events, and kept stakeholders aligned when pressure's on. His arbitration credentials mean he understands dispute resolution from the inside — which is exactly why he avoids them in the first place. He doesn't just know the theory; he's lived the complexity across major contractor delivery. That experience is exactly what projects this size demand — and exactly what he brings every day.

  • Neil Gallagher

    Charted Accountant

Neil has spent decades doing what he loves most — making numbers work harder than the people watching them. As a Chartered Accountant and financial consultant, he brings a sharp eye for detail and an almost suspicious enthusiasm for a well-balanced spreadsheet. "Every penny has a purpose. My job is making sure you know exactly where each one is going — and how to keep more of them." Don't let the years of experience fool you — Neil brings an energy to every engagement that puts people half his age to shame. Whether he's auditing a complex account or consulting on financial strategy, he approaches every problem with the same curiosity and drive he had on day one. Clients don't just get a number-cruncher; they get someone who genuinely cares about the financial health of their business — and gets a quiet thrill out of finding savings others would've missed.

  • Dan Leadbetter

    Quantity Surveyor

Dan is a Quantity Surveyor with a First Class degree in Quantity Surveying and practical experience gained through a degree apprenticeship in the highways sector. He is known for his proactive approach, strong commercial awareness and attention to detail. He has experience managing highway infrastructure schemes for major clients including National Highways, taking projects from initial pricing through to final account. His expertise includes NEC4 contract administration, cost planning, compensation events and commercial reporting on projects valued at over £7 million. Dan is committed to continuous development and is currently working towards Chartered status through the RICS APC pathway, while supporting team members and building strong working relationships across projects. When Dan’s not in the office you’ll find him competing with the Edge Off-Road competitive motocross team or relaxing by the water doing some recreational fishing.

  • Sandra Gajdzis

    Accounts Assistant

Sandra doesn't just process invoices and orders - she audits them. Every line gets scrutinised, every figure gets verified, and nothing moves forward until it's right. In a business where cash flow and accuracy aren't negotiable, that approach isn't just helpful. It's essential. "If something doesn't add up, I'll find it. If it does, I'll make sure everyone knows it." She brings a rare combination of precision and pace - the ability to stay meticulous under pressure and catch what others would miss. Whether she's reconciling accounts, chasing a payment, or spotting a discrepancy in an order, Sandra's eye for detail means the business runs cleaner. Her work is quiet, thorough, and absolutely non-negotiable.

  • Chloe Roys

    Compliance Officer

Chloe runs a tight ship — which is impressive considering she also runs a household of five dogs, a cat, and a coffee machine that rarely gets a moment's rest. With five cups a day fuelling her focus, she keeps the supply chain moving with the kind of quiet efficiency that only someone truly at home in the construction industry can manage. "I've always been drawn to construction — there's something about watching a project come together from nothing that never gets old." Camera in hand when she's off the clock, Chloe has a natural eye for detail that carries straight into her work — spotting gaps, tracking logistics, and making sure every moving part arrives where it needs to be, on time. She knows the industry inside out, and that knowledge is exactly what makes her so effective. Whether she's coordinating suppliers or chasing down a delivery, you can count on Chloe to have it handled — probably before her third coffee.

  • David Miguel

    Marketing Executive

David came to the UK from abroad, bringing fluency in English, Portuguese, and Dutch — and a genuine passion for marketing that goes beyond tactics. He specialises in web design, content, and SEO, with a philosophy that sets him apart: he doesn't just market at people, he thinks like them. "Marketing is competitive and niche — I love that. The key is putting yourself in the target audience's shoes and working backwards from there." Since joining the team, David has driven improvements across the business's online presence, from building and refining the website to growing engagement through targeted content. He's the kind of person who takes ownership, asks the right questions, and gets things done — a genuine asset to the business and the people behind it.
